Frequently Asked Questions

How much do photos cost after the shoot?

Details of prices for digital images can be found here, prices for framed prints can be found here.

Can I bring my family or friends to my shoot?

I reccomend that you limit the number of people that accompany you to the shoot to just one person. Part of the reason for this is I have limited space. The major reason is that having several people at your shoot can become a distraction to both me and the subject. You will find that people will start to tell you what is working and what isn't and the shoot becomes an unfocussed mishmash of everyone's ideas rather than a focussed execution of mine and the subject's ideas. The proverb "too many cooks spoil the broth" springs to mind.

Why don't you offer loose prints?

With the material costs and time involved in preparing the prints, placing an order with a lab, receiving the order and checking it meets my standards, packaging the order and dispatching to the client, it works out much more cost effective for the client if they order prints from one of the many online print services using digital files purchased from me.

How long will my photos be online for?

I have plenty of web space to store my clients galleries so they currently have no expiry date. Should I need to free up space for new galleries, I will give plenty of notice.

Do I get copyright of the photos I buy?

No. As the person who created the image, I retain copyright. As a photographer, my photographs are what I use to promote myself and I wouldn't want to risk jeopardising that by transferring copyright to someone else. However, when I sell my digital images, I do include a reproduction licence that allows you to print and reprint the images as many times as you like, upload to the internet and send by email.

Will You Do My Hair and Make-up?

Hair and make-up is not included in my packages at present. I can organise a hair and make-up artist for you if required (who will have their own fees).

Do you photograph weddings?

No.

Do you do passport photos?

No. Boring!

Do you have a brochure?

I see my website effectively as my brochure. It's always up to date, full of information and saves on paper.

Can you make the whole photo black and white except for one object?

I can, but I generally choose not to as I am not a fan of this technique (often referred to as spot colour or selective colour) and I don't feel it fits with my style.

Do you do school photography?

No. The production-line nature of school photography doesn't fit in with the bespoke way I like to work. I can of course take portraits of your child in their uniform if required.

Can you restore an old photograph of my relatives?

No, this is not a service I provide.

How long will I have to wait to see my photos from the shoot?

Usually no more than a couple of days. If you have requested a viewing session, you'll have to wait until then to see your photos.
